Classical guitarist and composer Mason Peralta was born in Hilo, Hawaii. He began playing guitar at the age of 11 and composing shortly thereafter. He excelled in various styles of performance including classical, jazz and blues drawing inspiration from many diverse influences.
His studies lead him to Chicago where he was taught by world-renowned guitarists Denis Azabagic and Sergio Assad at the music conservatory of the Chicago College of Performing Arts. While there, Mason took prizes in several competitions including first and second place in the Society of American Musicians’ 79th and 78th annual guitar competitions, respectively, and performed for artists such as Roland Dyens, Sharon Isbin, Lorenzo Michelli and Oscar Ghiglia. He has performed throughout the USA to great acclaim as both a soloist and ensemble musician and has received honors and distinctions from some of the preeminent names in music.
His growing catalog of published compositions, through classical language, reflects his many influences and respect for numerous musical genres.
Mason currently resides in Atlanta and is a faculty member at the Art Institute of Atlanta.
